Project aardling

Strategy, architecture, and modelling for complex software. Aardling helps you regain control of your critical software systems, faster.

They’re your partner for software strategy, architecture, and domain modelling in complex environments. They use techniques from strategic design, domain modelling, software engineering, and socio-technical architecture, to give you control over your delivery. With their experience in finance, logistics, media, biotech, and other industries, they collaborate with you to design software that works for your business instead of impeding it. With Aardling, modelling complex domains and expressing them in your software becomes a competitive advantage. They work with teams globally.

Aardling was founded by Mathias Verraes in 2020. Mathias had been a freelance consultant travelling to clients across Europe and the US to help with modelling, architecture, and software design strategy. To meet demand, he collaborated with other freelancers, and built up a small freelancer network. Alongside his consultancy work, Mathias founded the DDD Belgium meetup in 2013 and the DDD Europe conference in 2016. As more and more clients trusted him with more and more complex projects, Mathias founded Aardling and joined forces with Gien Verschatse, Stijn Vannieuwenhuyse, Thomas Coopman, and Maxime Sanglan-Charlier. Their work ranges from helping leadership with strategic design and business strategy, to helping engineering teams with domain discovery, modelling, and architecture. For organisations ready to scale, they provide embedded consulting and training to ensure these ideas are safely implemented into production. Since 2020 they’ve worked with many different types of customers, from Fortune 500 financial institutions, car manufacturers, healthcare organisations, and global logistics companies.

Beyond consulting their clients, they have helped thousands of people through their training courses at DDD Academy. And they continue to organise a series of conferences including DDD EuropeEventCentricData Mesh Live, and NewCrafts.

They came to us for these fun pen cases. Not only the banners were upcycled, but the old lanyards were also used as brand labels. In this way, they also got a new destination.
