project marylene madou
The Marylène Madou brand was founded in Belgium in early 2017, named after the designer herself. The ultimate starting point of each collection are the prints. Each textile print is made in-house by the designer, using only her own original paintings and digital illustrations. This is what makes each Marylène Madou print unique.
Marylène graduated from LUCA School of Arts in 2015, with a master’s degree in textile design. In 2014 she won the international fashion competition ‘The Silhouette of The Future / 2039’, an initiative of the Fashion Museum of Hasselt, and was given the opportunity to do an international internship in Los Angeles and London, where she learned all the ins and outs of the field of textile print design.
Her current archive of prints and patterns was picked up by art book publisher Stockmans Art Books and published in 2021.
Brands around the world have licensed Marylène Madou artwork and hired Marylène as an art director in creating various types of printed collections, recognizing her as one of the emerging designers of her generation.
Marylène approached us because she was looking for a sustainable solution for her residual materials. Together we designed these puffer bags, which are also reversible. This way you have 2 beautiful prints in one bag. To make the bag even more circular, the handles are made from old seat belts.
Marylène: “The result was a success. Thank you very much for the smooth cooperation.”
